Why Buy Real Estate in the Comox VAlley

October 4, 2012

As a Comox Valley REALTOR® I often offer my clients an overview about the many great reasons to consider real estate in the Comox Valley. Although I’ve been selling real estate in Courtenay and Comox for many years, sharing this information with potential home buyers never feels like a sales pitch. It feels more like sharing a discovery, one that I know they’ll appreciate for years to come.

Geographically speaking, the Comox Valley is ideal, centrally located on Vancouver Island offering an amazing diversity of property types to choose from. I love showing people around, taking them to urban or rural homes, ocean front and river front properties for sale, acreages with mountain views or an alpine villa. It’s hard to believe so many different kinds of Comox Valley real estate listings could be available to view within an hour drive and I enjoy watching their excitement grow as they realize the potential. Living in a central location like the Comox Valley is an easy transition if you’re used to living in a bigger centre. The  Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) provides direct travel to many domestic and international destinations, or there are BC Ferries routes to both Vancouver and Port Angeles within a few hours drive. If you’re used to living in a smaller place, Courtenay and Comox have all the amenities you need, and still have a small town charm. Even though larger urban centres are close by, there are plenty of fabulous shops in downtown Courtenay and Comox with world class restaurants and wineries right here at home.

The recreational opportunities are another reason to consider buying real estate in the Comox Valley. It’s the perfect spot for the young and adventurous home buyers who want their growing families to enjoy an active lifestyle. Mountain bike trails, hiking, and the natural beauty of Strathcona Provincial Park are all accessible any weekend you choose with North Island College, and Vancouver Island University offering accessible commutes for post-secondary pursuits. Courtenay and Comox are beautiful places to enjoy retirement years too, with ocean view condos for sale, accessible public transit, plenty of green space and gardens, and a vibrant arts community. Winter months in the Comox Valley are typically green and mild, and it’s possible to enjoy both gardening and golfing year round, and still take advantage of the deepest snow packs in Canada for downhill or cross country skiing at Mount Washington Alpine Resort.

If you’re a first time home buyer or considering one of the houses for sale in the Comox Valley, let me take you on a tour of my current Courtenay or Comox real estate listings. Vancouver Island offers a high quality of life that is hard to find anywhere else.
